Coolest Shit Ever: Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers LP
9 Mar, 2009 in Coolest Shit Ever, fnord, musicI love this album. I haven’t listened to it in awhile. It’s vital, and raw, and alive, and masterfully done. It’s as soulful as Otis Redding and yet it’s a rock and roll band. In the words of George S Patton, “God help me, I do love it so.” Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street are the two eternals in the canon, in my opinion. Beggars Banquet, Ya-Ya’s, Let It Bleed, and Goats Head Soup all have their place, but they are the rise and fall of that zenith that Sticky Fingers attains.
As you probably know, I listen to music intently, and Sticky Fingers nourishes something in me. Something alive, young, and … free. For awhile, I must concede that the Stones may have, in fact, been the greatest rock and roll band on Earth. There’s always the matter of wax wings though. Still, the Coolest Shit Ever, for sure.
I am happy.
