Decent Mashup: Jay-Z and Led Zeppelin. Eclectic Method = .75 Dangermouse.

To those with ears, Youdopia, call it “The OTO Meets the Illuminati”. To those beneath the rank of Probationer, let his video be known as a mashup up Led Zeppelin’s Moby Dick, and Bonzo’s Montreux, with… some Jay Z songs. The only Jay Z album I have is the Grey Album, and that’s a mashup of the Black Album and the Beatles White Album. It’s amazing, and much better than this mashup. You should get it. It was done by DJ Dangermouse, and it’s all over teh interwebs (a series of tubes).

So, Jay Z (and Lady Ga Ga as well) as utilizing “occult” symbolism in their videos. Good for them. Why leave it all to death metal? Masonic and occult symbolism are everywhere. If Jay Z is involved in hermeticism, good for him.

Anyhoo, enjoy the music.

  1. Wow, you are embracing modernism. I hug you, and give much happy fun time at your sombody for it, Yes!!!

  2. This is awesome. I’m a huge Jay-Z fan and a huge fan of mash-ups. I’m a fan of Jay-Z initially because of ‘The Double Black Album’ by Cheap Cologne (Metallica & Jay Z). I had The Grey Album even before that, but I never really listened to it too much, because I didn’t know anything about either Jay-Z nor the White Album (back then, I thought the Beatles were overrated. I have since educated myself). To this day I can’t get into it because the White Album is possibly my least favorite Beatles album, despite loving the Black Album so much. I really appreciate both Danger Mouse and Jay-Z for embracing the mash-up craze. Jay saw a growing trend and took it mainstream, and YouTube and the rest of the net is full of mashups now from aspiring DJs. Have you heard the Wu-Tang/Beatles mashup album? It’s brilliant, though I don’t know much about Wu-Tang (yet).

Anyway, found your blog via a search on Led Zeppelin mash-ups. Glad I found this.

    Thanks, Franny!

I am just getting into the mash-up thing, although I’ve had the Grey Album for years. I’m glad you liked it, and that you like my site. I appreciate the comment, and I hope to hear from you again.

Also, thanks for following me on Twitter!
