Jimmy Page’s Book Costs More Than $600. I’m honestly on the fence.

in fnord, Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin

Well, Youdopia, the Jimmy Page book is $600. And that’s not for the Deluxe Edition ($1100 and it sold out in a day).
I admit that my desire is pure commodity fetishism, but I might get it. I know. I am not a chick. I don’t golf. I don’t collect stamps, or anything like that, and I haven’t bought any Zep stuff for… at least a decade. I’m talking collectibles, not CD’s and DVDs and stuff.

One thing I just noticed… Jimmy put the book on sale on the anniversary of Crowley writing the Book of the Law. Do with that what you will (shall be the whole of the law).

I was hoping he would put out a $93 edition. ;-)

  1. Well, Mr. O’Malley, I bought it. Or at least I typed in my credit card details. I won’t actually see it for several months as they say each one takes 8 weeks to make and four weeks to ship, or something.

I’ve never bought a collectible book in my life (or rather, not for over $3 from St. Vincent de Paul) but this one whispered my name.

    PS I am a chick.

That’s so cool! I made it all the way to the shopping cart, but I held back. Luckily, as it turns out, because shortly thereafter my computer died, and that money will have to go toward a replacement.

I still may get one though. I would say 60/40 in favor. Congrats, and enjoy what will obviously be a great collectible.

  3. Are you kidding? I could buy a pair of Manolo Blahnik’s for that much money ;-)

I bought one too and I’m a chick. I also have a pair of Christian Louboutins that were more than this book. The difference is those shoes won’t appreciate in value the way this book will. I understand that the price of this is a bit of a shock at first, but you have to realize you’re buying a work of art. Jimmy Page supervised the entire production of this book, held each copy in his hands and signed his name to it. This is not your typical bookstore stock. It would be easy to pay 20.00 for an autobiography that will collect dust on your shelf and have absolutely no return of value, but this is a hand-crafted photographic essay that will be something to treasure for years. And, yes, as with all Genesis books it will undoubtedly be worth many times more than the original asking price. Just as an example: Genesis produced a book called “Exile.” It was about the Stones tax exile in France that resulted in the album “Exile on Main Street.” That book originally went for 375 pounds and it recently was on eBay where it sold for over 4000USD. How many rock artists offer their fans something like that that will literally be a true rarity that will never lose it’s value? I’ll cherish mine forever.

Nice! The Sept 27th ship date has become ” in time for Christmas.” I second guess my choice to not buy, every day, but it just wasn’t the right time.

I hope you enjoy it. It’s going to be gorgeous.

You’re totally right, in that it’s a work of art. It’s something that will still be around 500 years from now, and I love that. The quality is truly stellar.

I never really doubted the quality, or the value. I literally had the super expensive one loaded in the cart, and made it all the way to checkout before I backed out. My family and I are moving across the country next year, and we’re saving as much as we can, and the timing just wasn’t right.

I’m glad you took the plunge, and I know you will treasure it always.

  7. Just received my deluxe copy today and let me say that it was well worth the very long wait. This book is huge and weighs a ton! What nice work I must say. From the packaging it was shipped in to te gold gilded pages. I am truly impressed and am pissed at myself for not buying another.

    A true work of art!

I am very envious of you. Are you on FBO or RO? We may know each other!

I’m glad you got your book, and that it’s super amazing. I wish I did it back in the day, but I’m also moving in a short time, and I need that $$$ to do that.

    I am so jealous.

  9. We might know eachother. You never know.
I’m on Facebook under my name (obviously)

My profile pic is that of my daughter Paige

    Heh,
Anyone who pays that much for a book is a bit loopy. Surf over to Google and type in Jimmy Page…

  11. Mojozoso

I agree, esp after seeing scans of the book, and realizing that 85% of the pics are in circulation among the collectors and fans. It is a good investment, though. The $600 book is selling regularly for $2000 on eBay.

  12. We imagine thats supposed to be cold
