Rolling Stones: The Lost Brussels Show 1973. One of the Best Stones Shows Ever. Download It Here.

in Coolest Shit Ever, fnord, Free Download, music

Happy Saturday, Youdopia. In honor of our happy pappy, Saturn, that jolly old elf (thud) I offer you a Rolling Stones concert from the absolute high point of their career. It’s called Lost Brussels (this version anyway) and it is, by far, the most popular, and common, Stones live recording. Click the pic to read about the myriad versions of it. I sent a copy to an old friend from high school, and I decided to share the download link with you. Free music. Gotta love it, and the quality can’t be beat, as it’s professionally recorded in stereo. It really is one of their best concerts ever, way better than Get Your Ya-Ya’s Out, in my opinion, and it is the Coolest Shit Ever. It is in keeping with the vibe of my earlier posts about the Exile On Main St reissue, and the bonus tracks therein.

Download it here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=803X3RQH

It’s a high quality (LAME 320 or VBR) mp3, in a zipped folder. Help yourself for as long as the link is active. Here are the notes that came with the show:

Listening to it now – awesome, thanks so much for this.

I saw the Stones in Manchester on this tour in 1973 (and a few times since), so good to have a recording from the same tour. Just an exceptional era from the band.

You’re very welcome, Paul. Thank you for your comment! It must have been great to see them live, at their peak. I didn’t get to see them until ’89. Great show, but… not like this one. Enjoy!

Right, some more considered feedback. Don’t listen to this expecting a “typical” live album. Live albums often feature best performances of tracks picked from several shows, and are quite often “touched up” with overdubs. This is all from one show and exactly what went into the PA. I’ve heard most of the official live stones albums and this is another animal entirely. Excellent sound quality for a bootleg. How good was Mick Taylor!
All the versions are good but “you can’t always get what you want” is excellent, and that version of “midnight rambler” is the best I’ve ever heard. Puts the one on “get yer ya-yas” completely in the shade.

Should be compulsory listening for all Stones fans..

Awesome review, Paul. Thank you! I hope you stick around. I’m going to post more shows soon. They will likely be Zep shows, as that’s my main passion, but I do hope to see you around again.
