Free Download: Led Zeppelin at the Texas International Pop Festival – 8/31/69
19 Jul, 2010 in fnord, Free Download, Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin, musicIt is Free Download time, again. Here’s another legendary Led Zeppelin show for you, Youdopia. I’m done with the esoteric stuff, for now. This is a straight up, amazing performance by Zep as they were rocketing to the peak of their powers. It’s been converted to excellent quality mp3 with LAME VBR. It’s about 124 megs, so it will download in just a few minutes. During the call and response part of Dazed and Confused, you can hear some RF interference on the feed. Sounds like air traffic control or police radio. Ah, the good old days.
This show sounds great on headphones.
There’s even pro shot film of the show, although it’s never been officially released, and exists only in fragments (aside from the super secret hoarders who have all the really, really cool stuff). You can see the snippet that circulates below. Jimmy Page is (of course) amazing. This is a shorter set than normal, because they had a plane to catch. I believe Robert mentions that to the crowd. This is the last gig on their tour. After this show they headed back to England for a bit.
If you like live music, you can’t beat this excellent soundboard recording. It’s the Coolest Shit Ever. Full stereo, nicely separated instruments, triumphant, confident band… this is another on the list of must have live Zeppelin recordings.
You can get the show here.
