Happy Free Download Friday! This week I’m offering something special. This is a show by Camper Van Beethoven, from 1989, on their tour supporting Key Lime Pie. I love this album, Youdopia, and I love this concert.
The main reason this show is so great, aside from the fantastic performance, and the stellar set list, is the sound quality. If memory serves, this is a digital rip of the original master tape, which is an excellent audience recording. When I say excellent, I mean truly great. The stereo separation is wonderful, and this could be a professional live album, or a radio broadcast.It’s from 11/12/89 at the UW Milwaukee Ballroom.
The set opens with All Her Favorite Fruit, which is one of the greatest love songs ever written, imo. This may not resonate with my regular peeps, who download Led Zeppelin and the Stones from me, but this show is truly outstanding, in both quality of performance, and of sound. Enjoy some of the greatest music of the 80′s.
