Holy Shit. This Thing Is Sexy

Someone posted a link to One Degree Of Freedom’s amazing, gorgeous, insansely priced, audiophile turntable, on one of my Zeppelin groups today. Oh My God.

From the cheesiness, and amateur nature nature of the site design, I 100% believe in the awesomeness of this device. Pure engineers, in my experience, put very little energy and expense into site design.

Reading the about page for this turntable is like reading porn. It’s a thing of beauty. The platter itself weighs 60lbs! There aren’t even bearings. It’s a “non-resonant liquid suspension”. Holy shit.  The designer, Aleks Bakman, designs rockets, helicopters, planes… take a look.

It’s so incredibly… decadent… that I feel guilty looking at it.  It doesn’t even come with a tonearm, much less a stylus… take a look at the breakdown for the suggested components worthy enough to reproduce the signal this thing generates. The total for everything you need to actually listen to you old Yes records is.. $600,000. It’s obscene. I want one. It’s the coolest thing ever.
