Astronauts are badass. I mean real astronauts. The moon walkers. The Right Stuff folk. Buzz Aldrin is in his 80′s and he still kicks ass, when fucked with.

If the bad guys speak like the good guys are supposed to, and the good guys act like bad guys… and the good guys imprison, torture, lie, extort, exploit, and exhaust the country, and the people whom they are sworn to serve (remember… public servants), then I believe the time has come for a reevaluation of current values. Coolest Show Ever

Incredibly Information Rich

If you have never read, heard, or seen The Power of Myth, with Joseph Campbell and Bill Moyers, then I strongly encourage you to do so. It’s one of the coolest things ever, and it may provide a ton of cool insights for you. You can read an excellent summary of the Hero’s Journey on this wonderfully articulate and interesting blog. Dig it.

If you’re at work, there are so many worse things to listen to. This series was incredibly influential in whatever it is I am now. Take that as you will. Watch the goddamn show.

Funniest Cartoonist Ever

I discovered B. Kliban in 1986, in the humor section of the Paperback Booksmith, in the Bedford (NH) Mall. I was probably looking at Bloom County, and National Lampoon, as well. His unbelievably weird, and transcendentally brilliant cartoons brought unto me illumination not unlike that of the angels to the gentle shepherds of Jerusalem. It was a completely new kind of humor, and I got it.

It is late, and I must work in the morning, but if you like these cartoons, look at this earlier post of mine. Then buy one of his books. You can find them used for cheap. Life can flatten you under its irresitable force. Kliban can give you a glimpse into the sideways of life. Pursue it if this speaks to you. There is wisdom to be gained. Its also the funniest shit ever.

Banksy Strikes Again. No Christ This Time.

Banksy has once again popped up in my Tumblr.  Last time it was in Rio, painting Christ the Redeemer. I don’t know how old this one is, but it’s awesome. I love his doodles. They hold truth.  Langston Hughes used words, Banksy uses images, and perhaps one day we’ll all use our heads and realize that we need no masters.

Can You Imagine The Intensity? It Was A Day Game!

This is crazy because it’s true. Dock Ellis pitched a no hitter against the Padres while on LSD. Sports people know this. Cool people may not. Robin Williams did a bit about it. Watch the video and listen to the man himself tell the story. It’s hilarious, and amazing. If you’ve ever done acid, you understand the enormity of this achievement. One time when I was tripping, it took me like half an hour to make a sandwich. For those who say all drugs are always bad all the time… apparently not.

I am old. I finished growing old at least a decade ago; now I shrink into myself like a rotting peach. Days without pain and stiffness are far behind me. Where once I ran, I now hobble. Where once I danced and leapt, I now creak and sway like a ship trapped in ice… for what else is an elderly person, but a human being rent asunder by the relentless pressure (from all angles) of time and it’s bastard child entropy. If I had the saliva I would spit and curse them both, but I am old and robbed even of my ability to damn my enemies. All the juices sour and then dry up, leaving only the dust of memory, if you’re lucky. I’ve seen friends, family, and even enemies lose their memories, lives, and finally their humanity to senility.

The brain dessicates and blows out through the ears, bit by bit, like beach sand. That sand is then used by the Sandman to put children to sleep. Where do you think dreams come from? They are the scattered memories of the countless millions before you, reconstituted in the tears of the afflicted. Why do you think young children fight bedtime so passionately? The Sandman is a demon. That’s why he comes at night… and one day fragments of your wedding day will pollute the dreams of a child not yet born.

When you get old enough, you see the patterns emerge.
