Nick Offerman’s Character Is Brilliant

Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman on Parks and Recreation is the hyper-Hemingwayian Man. He’s like a real life Chuck Norris (that’s funny). He hunts, fishes, eats and drinks like a Norse God, and is the government official who believes government is awful. I preached his brilliant Pyramid of Greatness in an earlier post.

The ice cream (not real, it’s part of a meme) references a situation in which Ron has missed at least one meal, in anticipation of dining at his favorite steak house. Upon arrival he discovers that the restaurant has been closed down. In mourning and desperation he goes to a Dennys type establishment, and is deeply disappointed in their steak. What follows is genius. It takes great talent to sell a line this stupid. Watch. It’s the Funniest Thing Ever .
