Bill Maher is very funny, and I am his side. The only thing I have against him, is that he seems to be as “right” and self righteous with his view, as those he derides. That’s a small gripe, however, and I am firmly behind him when it comes to religion, and its place in society.Youdopia, I don’t think belief in any religion gives one the right to kill. Sorry. That includes Christians who kill abortion doctors as well as Muslims, Jews, Jains, Hindus… anyone who thinks that any belief system is perfect enough to justify horror. Fuck that shit.

Iggy Pop Is Truly Great

One of these things is not like the others, Youdopia, one of these things doesn’t belong. Iggy Pop performed at a Tibet benefit back in February of this year, along with Patti Smith. From what I’ve seen on the YouTubes,  Iggy’s performance was awesome. It meshed well with the strings and harp, etc. The thing that struck me the most, is that Iggy is 63 years old, and he’s still ripped, and bounces across the stage like a 30 year old. He sounds great, and…well… I was impressed. I like Iggy Pop in a valence electron sort of way. I like a couple of his songs, and I love his 1986 album Blah Blah Blah, mainly because I was working in a record store when it came out and heard it on our playlist a thousand times.

None of that matters. This show is noteworthy for more than just the oxymoronic-ness of Iggy Pop and a string section at Carnegie Hall, playing to a bunch of suits. You are about to witness Iggy Pop’s last stage dive. Why? Because when he jumped into the crowd, the fuckers parted and let a 63 year old old man fall to the ground. The pro doesn’t miss a beat. I give you “Now I Wanna Be Your Dog”.

If you watched that one, I urge you to watch this performance of “The Passenger” from the same show. It’s way more upbeat, and I like it more. Letting a punk icon crash to the ground at a benefit concert, of all things, is definitely the Craziest Shit Ever.

Happy Friday, Youdopia. Many of you have already seen this, but I want to promote this great clip of Jon Stewart sticking it to CNBC on The Daily Show. Talk about polarizing! The plutocrats and oligarchs are harumphing mightily. Thing is… I’m just as broke no matter who’s in power, but I sure am likely to support someone who’s smashing asshole fatcats whose entitlement is so staggering that one has to step back a few paces to even see it. It’s the coolest shit ever.

Guess what, youdopians? I was watch the McLaughlin Group last night, and they opened with the fighting in Georgia. Holy Shit. I had no idea. I’m online all day, everyday, and I always keep up with the news via Drudge and the BBC. Yes, I know Drudge is biased, but conservative and gay is a unique viewpoint. It’s distinct, like a labradoodle, and it’s updated frequently, so I check it out. No one said peep about the war between Russia and Georgia. We had troops in Georgia a month ago… so it may be relevant, even in conjunction with the global field day in Beijing. In short, holy shit. Shouldn’t this be page one? On a personal note, it’s oddly familiar, feeling threatened by Russia again. It’s been awhile. They said they won’t hit me no more, and he ain’t drinkin’ near as much. I love him. We’ll make it work

I can’t even really pretend to understand this story, but it does strike me as being the dog’s bollocks. The photo and the video below are of a super short burst of light. How short? Well, short enough to photograph the entire wave form. You can see the beginning, middle, and end of the fucker. That’s neato to me.
