I’ve been warning humanity of the pending robot revolution, with posts like this, and this.

This robot is designed as a practice droid for dental students in (surprise) Japan.

She blinks, can turn her head, react to pain, and gag. Who said that? Which one of you just said, “Sounds like the perfect woman. Can it cook?”.

Jesus Christ, guys. That’s just wrong. Yes, the face, mouth and hair were made by a uber high end sex doll company. This robot is for science. All of those luscious features are there to create a realistic model for dental students.

If robots have souls, or ever develop them, we will have much to answer for. In any case, it’s the craziest shit ever.

Ok, Teach your robot to sing, but why dress it up and put a wig on it? I bet it looks like the creator’s mother. Eewww. Anyway, I’ve warned of (german) robots who  can lie, and of robots who serve ice cream (but do they serve I man?), but now they sing. Skynet has a music channel now. It’s the Craziest Thing Ever.

Happy Monday, Youdopia. I am pleased to announce the glorious Robot Revolution is going strong. We have now taught robots how to lie, shortly after teaching them how to feel.  Skynet is sure to follow. Two scientists have published a paper about teaching roots the art of deception. Says Prof. Wagner (one of the writers):

“”We strongly encourage discussion about the appropriateness of deceptive robots to determine what, if any, regulations or guidelines should constrain the development of these systems,”

Hurrah, Youdopia! The Germans have created a robot that can feel, and emote. Not only that, it can tell what emotions you’re feeling. German empathy has at last been synthesized. German emotions. Aggressions, obsession with perfection, and racial hatred Awesome. Maybe if we’re lucky it can learn to judge the worthy from the unworthy.

Youdopia, I hope that you know my love and appreciation for the works of Robert Anton Wilson. He introduced me to the rate of information acquisition (he called it the Jumping Jesus), and how information doubles every few months (now) and is getting faster and faster. That much is pretty much empirically true, as I understand it.

I know nothing about Ray Kurzweil, other than what’s in this trailer. I think it’s neat. I do not endorse it. If you get all huffy and say it’s bullshit, I will not be offended, nor will I take up the flag in defense. I think it’s neat, and it makes me want to look into Kurzweil’s work more. In any case, I hope we can agree that Kurzweil’s vision of the future is the Craziest Shit Ever. Thank you to the Daily Grail for turning me on to this.

Well, Youdopia, I think you know I dig robots, at least I seem to.  Honda, pioneers of the ASIMO (eternally satirized on South Park as Awesome-O)  have developed a robot/brain interface that allows thoughts to control robots. Excellent. Maybe the robots will conquer us before the zombies. That makes it the Coolest Shit Ever. Yup.

Youdopia, I think robots are cool. This is the Coolest Shit Ever, because robots are cool. I’m not that impressed by facial expressions that much. Disney has had that in the Hall of Presidents for nigh on half a century (is that right, Eric?)

This is the HRP-4C robot. It can sing, and it can walk, and talk. It will be what takes care of you when you are old and infirm.
